Camp Wordier: Driven by Desires, a fiction writing workshop

All stories are about desire -- and the fight for who wants what and who gets what is what drives the conflict that moves narratives forward. In this workshop, writers will discuss the importance of desire in narrative fiction and work to identify and craft desire on the page.

A Milwaukee, Wisconsin native, instructor Sheree L Greer is a writer and educator living in Tampa, Florida. She founded The Kitchen Table Literary Arts Center to showcase and support the work of women writers of color and is the author of two novels, Let the Lover Be and A Return to Arms; a short story collection, Once and Future Lovers; and a student writing guide, Stop Writing Wack Essays. Sheree is a VONA/VOICES alum, Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice grantee, and Ragdale Artist House Rubin Fellow. She has completed Creative Capital Core Skills workshops and was awarded an NEA artist grant to support her current work in reative nonfiction. She teqaches composition, creative writing, fiction workshop and African American literature at St. Petersburg College.

This workshop is part of Camp Wordier Than Thou, a weekend writing daycamp for adults that takes place Aug. 18-19 at Lake Seminole Park.

Workshops are $12 in advance or $15 the day of the workshop. Three pre-registered attendees are required for each workshop.

Attend a full day of three workshops (Saturday, Aug. 18 or Sunday. Aug. 19) for just $30 in advance ($35 the day of) or two full days of six workshops (Saturday and Sunday) for $50 in advance ($60 the day of.)
